1gb SFP for DEC7x0
«

Hi
Can anyone recommend a 1gig SFP module that works with DEC7x0 that's available in UK (or EU)?
I have some GTek ones (both 1g and 10/100/1000 autodetect) and they both are unreliable - Link comes up but traffic only flows sporadically.
First device is a Ubiquiti switch, locked to 1 gig (but auto detect doesn't work either)
other is CityFibre RJ45 ONT FTTP - don't have any config options on this
Thanks for any ideas

To test have you checked that the connections are stable if you connect them to the RJ45's of the DEC7x0?
Most of my 10GTEK SFP modules are 10GB Fibre, but the odd 10GB copper SFP's that I have work well with my Ubiquiti kit.
The 1GB SFP's I have used, that worked as expected, include Netgear, Zyxel and TP-Link.

Thanks - yeah, sock solid when on copper ports.
I'm actually moving 2 connections from existing RJ45 to the SFP ports to add in 2 devices with Intel AMT/vPRO remote management - these drop to 10 when in power off; just enough for the AMT to function and allow remote power on I guess - this speed change 1000 -> 10 definitely didn't work on SFP

Which Unifi switch is that? If it has SFP or SFP+, you could use a DAC cable.

It’s the lite 8 port poe - no SFP socket
Ive tried DAC into a Cisco C1000 switch previously on the same DEC750 - worked fine, so guessing the SFP to RJ45 isn’t working as expected…

I would try to use the Ubiquiti UFiber - UF-RJ45-1G, which should at least work with the Unifi Switch as counterpart. I do not think there are any special needs for the DEC750 and some other Unifi modules are explicitely on their
compatibility list
.
That being said, I have used non-certified modules in the DEC750 and never had a problem.

Just to follow up on this, I tried a UniFi SFP as suggested, no luck.
Then tried known working 1g DAC cable into a different switch (Netgear GS110TP) and again nothing.
Both cases, link LEDs light, GUI says connected at 1g but no traffic flows
Decided to wipe the DEC750 and reinstall the firmware from scratch from my downloads directory and it all works fine when working as a live install - I get full connectivity with a 1g RJ45 SFP (WAN) and 1g DAC cable to switch (LAN).
If i then install to the SSD, power cycle everything, the interfaces don’t work again - link LEDS on switch show up and ifconfig on the ax interfaces show them both up as well, but no traffic flows.
Seems to be some kind of bug in that it works as a live install but not as a proper install - as it’s still under support, I’ll engage them directly
Thanks all for help.

That sounds more like a configuration problem to me - why should it matter how the system was booted?
Also, from the link LEDs showing the physical layer as being up, it must be something above that is odd.

Yeah, its odd.
Don’t think its config as I downloaded the config when working from live, and compared it to when not working as a proper install.
Apart from some monit and certificate data being different, the tunables and network setup were identical.
Suspect its some kind of boot time initialisation thing done in a live boot only…
Got a ipolex 10g SFP+ to RJ45 from Amazon today - works fine with exactly the same setup / config…
