Questionable behavior: categories

When adding a new alias one apparently cannot add a new category from that screen even though one appears to be able to do so when adding a rule or a port forward.  Since adding an alias often is done before adding the rule or port forward that uses it, would adding a new category be appropriate when adding an alias?  I am continually going back to update categories on aliases after creating the rule that uses them.  I guess one answer would be to add the category first, but under the consistency category that is not required for rules and port forwards so should it be required for an alias?

I think this is because aliases and rules are handled in different ways: rules uses legacy pages while aliases use the controller (MVC): you may have noticed that plugins also do not have the ability to create related elements from the main elemen edit form..

although this (creating related elements "on the fly") is obviously possible to add, imho it doesn't seem to be a very simple matter.
but it will be interesting to look at it when there is time  )

Thanks; that is a very reasonable answer.
