Hey, thanks for the feedback. I already voiced the concern in that review that the looming inclusion in FreeBSD 13.2 / 14.0 is not a great idea. It will probably happen anyway, but at least we can try to stay clear of it and revert this in advance when we actually move over (but though that likely won't happen before 14.1 perhaps).

The kernel replacement is scheduled for 22.7.7 as there is a test kernel already and there is nothing else of value to ship in the base/kernel area at the moment so it's a bit better to keep 22.7.6 as light as possible.

Cheers,
Franco

Hey Franco,

I see that they have reverted the changes today. So hopefully it will not be in 13.2 /14.

Does this mean we have to stick with the 22.7.5-e1000 kernel till 22.7.7 is released?
(I am not really into the release schedules.... still a bit new here and trying to learn)

Yes, I believe the test kernel is otherwise the same as vanilla 22.7.5 & 22.7.6 kernel just with that change reverted.

This weekend i have updated the firewalls to 2.7.7 including the kernel. It seems to work normally now.
However a reboot is required to get from 100Mbit to auto negotiation again. I am not sure if this was the case beforehand, but every thing seems to be back to normal again.
Thank you for the support!
