DHCP service on LAN ipv4

Hi There,
I am no network guru, but I enjoy messing around.
Before I commit to something, I like to try it out and see if it works for me.
I have setup Opnsense in a VM, created a virtual network, spun up some clients and thus far Opnsense works really great, expect for one issue.
The dhcp server on the LAN interface does not start on boot. I see during boot the service attempts to start, but bombs out on "exited on signal 6". Once the GUI is up, and I click on the green play button, then all is good.
This is all in ipv4, not ready to convert over to ipv6 for my home network just yet.
I have used a the common search engine and some dorking, but I only get issues that are 4 sometimes 5 years old, so no help there.
Is this normal expected behavior, or is there a hidden switch somewhere.
PS, next thing to try is a script, but I feel that would be a shame.
regards
learner network driver :-)

Signal 6 is Abort Program.
What resources have you provisioned for your VM?
Do you have the IP pool range configured correctly for the interface it is enabled for?
Other than that I wouldnt know. If the above is correct, maybe just blow the VM away and reinstall since its just a VM for testing. Perhaps something didnt go right when installing.
