CARP: master switches to backup, if I do a change on an interface

Hello,
as soon as I make a change to an interface on the master, for example setting an IPv6 address, then the master switches to backup mode and the slave becomes the master. Is this behavior normal, or does this indicate a configuration error?
I have intentionally turned off that the master automatically becomes the master role again (disabled preempt).
Background of my question: I must now set an IPv6 address on each interface and then also create a corresponding CARP IPv6 address. I wanted to do this step by step, but if in any case the master loses its role, I will have to configure all at once.
thank you

little late, but I have the same "problem". My solution is, to disable CARP on the slave while doing changes on the master's interfaces.
