Hi,
I've upgraded to the new version 22.1.2 but since them I kept getting time to time error of ethernet disconnecting.
2022-03-02T13:57:00 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.newwanip: IPv4 renewal is starting on 'igb1'
2022-03-02T13:56:56 Error dhcp6c transmit failed: Network is down
2022-03-02T13:56:55 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: DEVD: Ethernet attached event for dynamic wan(igb1)
2022-03-02T13:56:54 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: Clearing states for stale wan route on igb1
2022-03-02T13:56:54 Critical dhclient exiting.
2022-03-02T13:56:54 Error dhclient connection closed
2022-03-02T13:56:54 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: DEVD: Ethernet detached event for dynamic wan(igb1)

2022-03-02T13:56:52 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: Warning! dhcpd_dhcp6_configure() found no suitable IPv6 address on lan
2022-03-02T13:56:52 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: ROUTING: keeping current default gateway 'fe80::5555%igb1'
2022-03-02T13:56:52 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: ROUTING: setting IPv6 default route to fe80::5555
2022-03-02T13:56:52 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: ROUTING: IPv6 default gateway set to wan
2022-03-02T13:56:52 Error opnsense /usr/local/etc/rc.linkup: ROUTING: keeping current default gateway 'xx.xx.xx.xx'
I'm using a protecli VP2410. I've rolledback to the previous version for the kernel and opnsense but not the other packages and I had it only one time (so far) any idea?

Hi,
Sounds similar to
https://www.reddit.com/r/opnsense/comments/t47on6/opnsense_2212_released/hyyi1tq/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
but I'm at a loss what would be causing it.
Poster says 22.1.1(_3) works but it's unclear what would be causing it given the small batch of changes.
Can you update kernel again to confirm this is a core issue and not kernel?
Cheers,
Franco

Thanks I will try again with just the new kernel but maybe the issue was already there before with less visibility since after reverting kernel and opnsense, I have the issue one time after rebooting (and maybe after disabling my policy in intrusion detection but not sure…)
EDIT:
Yes after enabling or disabling a policy I have the same issue with the previous version, but maybe this is expected from suricata?

IPS mode will always take the interface down and up to detach and afterwards attach Netmap. It seems to be a bit harsher on 22.1 either because of a rework in core (linkup code was refactored) or because the system acts more disruptively for another reason. Not sure which, but both would point to an issue with all of 22.1 so the 22.1.1 to 22.1.2 flipflop seems entirely strange as previously mentioned.
Cheers,
Franco
