slow ethernet speed - but downloads only

Hello,

Recently I'd like to test 21.1 on my little x86 cube box with one ethernet port.
So I prepared two configurations - one with openwrt and one with newest 21.1 opnsense.
To my surprise Opnsense just limiting the speed of my downloads to ~100 Mbps with proper speed ~200-300 Mbps upload.
With replaced disk with openwrt configuration - the speed is normal about max of my ISP (700-900 Mbps).
The difference is of course system (linux vs freebsd) and famous realtek gigabit card/driver.
Both systems use VLAN. I tried to turn off/on offload hwchecksums  - no difference (maybe some combinations could be better).
Any ideas? no traffic shaping, just normal configuration.
Maybe older version of OPNsense?

Thanks for any tips to check.
Regards

Did you turn on IPS?  IPS can have a huge hit on throughput in my experience.

I'd also try 20.7 OPNSense.  I noticed when I upgraded to 21.1 that my performance went down.  I ended up rolling back to 20.7 (and updated to 20.7.8).

I've installed OPNsense, 1 user only, turn on speedtest - so I did not touch IPS-firewall settings.
My i3-4001u, I think, is not an oldie proc, so I think it is a kind of bug in new edition of OPNsense...
Maybe the answer is another thread about suricata performance?

The performance of the hardware should hardly be a problem.

How is the WAN connected?
- PPPoE?
- Problems with the MTU, so that question mentation occurs?

At most some of the usual tunables could help (flow control, RX/TX queues etc.)
System 1: PC Engines APU2C4
System 2: PC Engines APU2E4
System 3: Proxmox-VM on Intel NUC

Maybe, I will check after some time and future updates...
But the same hardware and OpenWRT and...no problems...so I suspect internal software or tuneables...
Generic install - no any special options just lan and wan - maybe the VLANs have some impact, but in OpenWRT no effects.
