Freebsd Installation for Building

Hello,
I have installed freebsd 12.1-RELEASE on VM and tried to build DVD but I had some error .
How exactly I should install freebsd ?
should I use default values and options in installation process ? like freebsd ports option to be added and ....

Install UFS and not ZFS, just the default install.
