Hi guys, I just boght a box running pfsense and want to install opnsense on it instead. I downloaded amd64/vga, flashed it on an USB stick and booted up. But then when I want to type installer the keys are totaly mixed up. I tried it with an Swiss and an US keyboard, no luck so far. Any idea how to fix that, I never had such a problem on any other system? (downloaded it twice from two different servers) Thanks!!

Could be a problem with console.. Press 3 to go into the bootloader when the Opnsense ASCII logo shows up and type in
set kern.vty='vt'
boot

and see if it works.. I had a framebuffer issue this morning.. but that did the trick.

Hi littlepepper,
sadly it doesn't do the trick. But interestingly in the console there I have no problem with the keyboard layout whatsoever. Once the logging prompt appears, I just have space ea3. So it's not that they are just mixed up, but all the keys are printing one of the four letters. Hope that helps to get a clue:-)

I figured out that when I keep my Logitech Lightspeed Keyboard unplugged while starting and just connect my US keyboard, it works. Don't know where this bug is coming from, but that way I could install. Now I'm happily exploring all the nice features:-)
