Is there a way to do a download of 20.1.7, so it can be applied to a firewall offline without Internet access? I am in the middle of building and configuring my new firewall, but I do not want to introduce it to the live network just yet. I would like to configure and test using the latest code.

Download an image here:  https://opnsense.org/download/

Installation instructions:  https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/install.html

If you use the OPNSense download and make a bootable USB, you can run OPNSense from the USB.  As long as you don't turn off the machine, it will keep the settings.  (I would recommend backing up the settings if you do want to shut off the machine.)

If you're satisfied with OPNSense, you can use the installer and it will install OPNSense and, if you've been running off of the USB and done any settings, those settings will automatically be applied to your install.  That's how I tested OPNSense before installing - ran it off of a USB for a few days, put the software through its paces, and when I was satisfied, activated the installer.

Thanks for responding quickly but I am looking to see if I can download an interim release for offline installation. Base instructions only allow for base release.

No, images are only created at the major release. Intermediate releases only get images when there are for example bugs in the installer.
