High CPU load when modem is down

Hi,

I've recently been having modem issues with my ISP, meaning i need to reboot my ISP provided modem every morning.
Whilst the modem is down, both Unbound DNS and dhcpd CPU load shoots up to about 100% between them, and stays up until my modem starts to function again.

Just want to check if this is expected behavioiur or a potential bug.

Thanks

I have a similar problem in that I use DNS servers on a local VM not OPNsense. My symptoms show as very high latency (I use PowerDNS for my servers), the reason you're getting that is that the DNS server will keep trying to connect o the root servers to answer local queries from your LAN.

You could set-up a chron job to check for an external IP (or three) being available and if not then reboot your modem, obviously that assumes you can reboot the modem remotely. Who is your ISP and what modem do you have?
Regards
