I created a Gen 2 VM with 4 cores, 1GB RAM and a 16GB dynamic VHDX, 2 NICs.

Gen 1 started installing fine, then realized FreeBSD 11.1 supports Gen 2, so started over.
But, as soon as the installer starts the copy of files, after selecting the guided disk part, it crashes with the below error.

Reset and try again fails in the same spot.

The image I had from Franco a while back with the new kernel installed fine.

Hi weust,

We're looking into kernel code, there may be something off to fix for 18.1-RC2.

Some info at: https://github.com/opnsense/plugins/issues/466

Cheers,
Franco

Alright. I will test again when 18.1-RC2 comes out.

We found the other issue but it does not look related. Is there any viable dmesg output?

Cheers,
Franco

Haven't seen anything special during boot, but will check it this afternoon after the crash.
Haven't tried logging in to run as livecd to check dmesg either.

I will check this afternoon and report back.

The very last line is added when it crashes.
I checked before I logged in as "installer".

Hope it helps.

Hi weust,

i has test yesterday a Installation with the ISO:
OPNsense-18.1.r1-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso

This works on a Windows Server 2016 with Configuration-Version 8.0, disabled Secure-Boot (like 99% Linux Guests).

(Test only installation, reboot, quick config. This Week i will backup the Gen1 OPNsense, and restore it in the Gen2, looking what working, and what not :-p).
