I have created a USB stick using OPNsense-17.7-OpenSSL-vga-amd64.img but I can't get it to boot. It always hangs on EFI framebuffer information.

I have tried adding to the boot options  set kern.vty="vt" and set console="efi" but not had any success.
Is there anything else I can try?

what kind of MOBO do you have ? Which ISO have you downloaded ?
is your MOBO supporting UEFI/LEGACY ?

The motherboard has a UEFI bios and will boot from legacy and UEFI. I can boot from the OPNSENSE USB stick in legacy mode but not UEFI.

I built the USB stick using Rufus from the OPNsense-17.7-OpenSSL-vga-amd64.img image (amd64, vga).

Do you have access to a Linux or Mac desktop to create the bootable USB? There is a high correlation between building the bootable media on Windows and issues installing OPNsense.

Even if you have to boot your desktop with a Linux live CD, you have a much higher chance of success with dd.

Bart...

Just tried using dd from a linux machine but I had the same problem.

I have the same problem.
I can install PFSence 24.0 (which is UEFI bootable) with no problem at all.
OPNsense will only boot in Lagacy.
