Was trying to move from pfsense to opnsense and it did not seem to wan to work with the dell perc raid h700. simple vhd raid1....

If you have a server with a Dell RAID card, is it not suitable for virtualisation? OPNsense has been shown to work quite well as a VMware or Microsoft virtual guest.

Bart...

I agree but im using these as physical edge devices. 2x96gb dell r610 with h700 card. IF its not supported i can just create a geom mirror i suppose but it worked in pfsense 2.3.2 with no issue and fails in opnsense........

It depends on which OPNsense version you tried?

http://mirror.wdc1.us.leaseweb.net/opnsense/releases/mirror/OPNsense-17.1-OpenSSL-vga-amd64.img.bz2

this link to usb stick, booted and ran live with no issue. when tried to install it failed. should i try the previous version ?

Hi bcollins,

Have you tried OPNsense 16.7?  OPNsense 16.7 was based on FreeBSD 10.3, which is the same FreeBSD version pfSense 2.3.2 is based on.

I would give it a shot because there could be an upstream FreeBSD issue causing the problems.  As OPNsense moved to FreeBSD 11.0 I would also test an installing using that.

Same as me.  Can install pfsense but cannot install OPNsense.  I am using Dell R410.  It always show the GEOM...header .... LBA.  I am using SAS disks with RAID card.  Running life has no problem but cannot install into HDD.   Please help.

Tried version 17 and 16 already.  Don't know why

Hi go2bar,

Have you tried to install FREEBSD 11.0 to see if you hardware is supported by FreeBSD?

If this works then try this alternative method to install https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=4526.0
