Total failure after update to 24.7.2

Performed GUI update to 24.7.2. Reboot was required. During reboot box freezes. I connected display to VGA port and I see this:

EDIT: My RAM is OK, tested using MemTest86. Box is non-virtualized. Previous install options (file system, etc) were all default.
