24.7 Clean install + Backup: How was it???

Hey all,

I just noticed the 24.7 upgrade pop-up and while checking the release note and the forum, this release appears to bring some surprises with it, I couldn't not notice the posts regarding problems.
I mean sure, nobody posts anything when things are working, right?! haha

Those who have performed a clean 24.7 install, have you had any problem in important the backup???
I will postpone this upgrade for a few months at least until I am certain that bugs and issues have been fixed.

I am no longer running mine as Proxmox VM which makes it easier to test things so old baremetal way is it, too much overhead problems with Proxmox when things go south.

While I can't tell you how well a fresh install + config backup restore works (because I simply upgraded), I can recommend you checking the OPNsense's subreddit. I usually check this place to get informed about problems other users had when upgrading or performing a fresh install. This post is the interesting one for you.
If I had to guess, a fresh install + config backup restore will work perfectly fine. Shout out to the OPNsense devs, they do an amazing job.

I just build a new minipc fw, and did the install on proxmox with NICs pci mapped directly.
The most obvious was traceroute not working through the firewall,  opnsense-update -zkr 24.7.1-icmp2  fixes it.
Im currently lurking the forums to see what else is up.

Overall it seems to work...  but here and there with routing, gateways (running vpns etc) there's some weird behavior that i cant pinpoint. It could be proxmox but i'm thinking opnsense. I could go barebones but i doubt it'll help my situation seeing the chatter on the forums.
I'll probably try install a fresh 24.1 on a VM before going barebones.

I need a couple of extra's on this host if possible ..  and working more reliable than where its at now.

I'm holding off the upgrade on my main fw's until we hit 24.7.2 at least.
