Can a business license expire when it has never been used/activated ?

Hi everyone,

a few weeks ago I switched from a DEC695 to a DEC750,
I'm now selling the DEC695 on ebay and I'm not sure what to do
with the 1 year license included in the DEC750 purchase since I already
have a license.

I was wondering whether the business license time starts counting down from the
day of my purchase or when it is first used / activated.

Does anyone know something about this ?

Hi,

It's set up on the day of purchase and does not require further activation so it also expires after a year.

If you bought the box but haven't used the license for a specific reason I'm sure contacting us can help resolve such issues, but likely not on a third party resale.

Cheers,
Franco

Thanks for the fast response,

My current license is still valid for ~1.5 years.

Before I bought the DEC695 I already had a business license
and the OPNsense team made an exception and extended my existing
license by one year so that I could make use of the license which came with
the DEC695.

I requested the same for the DEC750 but was not granted a license extension,
which is fine considering it was already an exception when I was granted the extension with the DEC695 license.

But that means that I'm unable to use the license which came with the DEC750 since
I certainly have no use for 2 firewalls at home.

UPDATE:
I think the best option is then to sell the license.
Apparently selling the license is not intended and thus not welcome by OPNsense.

UPDATE:
The issue has been solved, the OPNsense sales team switched the license dates of my existing and the new license
which came with the DEC750, I will now sell the old license together with the DEC695 and use the DEC750 with its original license.
