Dear Forum,

i tried installing OPNsense via USB Stick, prepared via dd as described, and the boot process (even before installation option is given) hangs on an error which spams the screen, please see attached foto for details. Sadly, the lines appear so fast that i cant read exactly what happens previosuly to the error.

I tried on a different pc with different hardware aswell, same result. I checked the md5 checksum of the download which is correct.

(I needed to reduce the image quality a lot to be able to upload it. Anyhow, note that the lower lines seem to overlap because either my monitor or camera could not keep up with how fast the lines moved.)

Any Suggestions?

Just an idea: Did you try with a good ol' USB2 stick? For me changing the stick to an old USB2 one helped.

Regards
Uwe

I used an USB 2.0 Usb-Stick connected to a USB 2.0 Port as far as i see. But i can try a different USB Stick, let's see if that changes anything.

It looks like data corruption in the boot image, it's not the usual bus/probing error.

I now have tried a different USB Stick, and a different USB Port on the PC i create the Installation Media with because i noticed that the USB Port previously used was a USB3 (which was not blue, thats why i forgot).

So after the following two changes, now it works as intended!
1) Used different USB Port during Installation Media Creation
2) Used different USB Stick

Thanks!
