Install opnsense headless

Hi I'm Peter and new here.

I'm planning to buy a hardware appliance such as any protectli. But would like to install opnsense myself.
How to proceed with only a spare laptop without com port?

Hi Peter, welcome aboard!

I use one of these for devices with tricky or no standard peripheral connectors: https://thepihut.com/products/usb-to-serial-adapter

Minicom on Linux or putty on Windows will handle the interfacing.
