critical: failed to initialize guest agent channel

Hi,

what do I need to get the qemu guest agent to work?  It seems like this should be working fine now, yet it doesn't.

I got the same errors. Only solved after reboot. Maybe even twice.
Install os-qemu-guest-agent version 1.1_1   from repo:OPNsense   called "QEMU Guest Agent for OPNsense"

I have 1.1_1 installed and it won't work even after rebooting.

Are there changes that have to be made in the configuration of the VM maybe?

Are you using Proxmox? I am and on it, for the VM you need to go to Options and set the QEMU Guest Agent to Enabled. It likely needs a reboot unfortunately.

I'm using KVM/QEMU on a Fedora host --- still Fedora 36 but about to upgrade to 37.
