Virtual installation: swap required?
«

Hi,
I'm setting up OPNsense on VMware with 6GB RAM and 90GB (virtual) Hard Drive.
During the installation I'm asked whether I want to continue with a "recommended swap partition of 8192M".
I do not think this is necessarily 'recommended' in the above setup, and hence should be set zero? Any thoughts?
From the installation docs on
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/install.html
, I see disabling swap is typically done for embedded systems.

Depending on the workload 6 GB may not be "a lot" and in peak traffic this could go overboard so having the swap space is not the worst thing in the world. That's why it's still recommended.
If you said you have 32 GB RAM, however, the swap does little with 8 GB. The kernel dump won't fit as well.
Cheers,
