Hi there guys!!

I'm trying to setup an old laptop system as a demo for OPNsense (power/bautiful OS)  but i'm having a problems configuring the wireless card.

The BSDconfig doesn't work (no wifi card) and the web page doesn't recognize the adapter, when I setup  the wireless net, it become em0 card and Can't go back to wireless settings...

Any clue what to do?

WiFi support in FreeBSD is poor to awful. Your best bet is to trunk LAN and WAN through the single network interface as VLAN's. You'll need a managed switch like Netgear GS105Ev2 but they're fairly cheap.

Bart...

With FreeBSD I work's pretty easy!!! just select wifi and GUALA!!! it's working.

With OpnSense it doesn't work at all... I will be selling something that works... and no please not to VirtualBox again NOOO!!!.

The laptop works well with FreeBSD but not OPNsense.

Hi healperci,

It really depends on the access point you use, bartjsmit may be be right on the poor support, but, if you have hardware supported by BSD it will definitely work. I use some really cheap USB dongles which provide me some pretty decent AP's that never failed me, for some four years or maybe more...
Okay the speed is not N quality nor a big range, but,  if you can settle with G (54mbit) speed than you may just spend a few dollar and get what you need.
