Quote from: meyergru on Today at 06:21:47 PMThe microcode update was not the root cause of the problems many people had. The old bootloader was.

There are threads which show how to update it.
Regardless I would presume freshly reinstalling 26.7 would also deal with the bootloader being broken?

The issue has occurred both with the microcode plugin present, and without

Starting a thread here.
So far the symptoms are:
Occasionally after anywhere between 12-72 hours my Protectli VP-6630 will hard lock itself, console output will be a primarily black screen with brief, corrupted looking flashes of the console screen appearing. the device will be unresponsive on all interfaces and the fans will lock to 100%. After performing a cold boot there are zero traces of logs indicating that anything went wrong. The system was fine prior to an upgrade to 26.7 (from 26.1) and while that admittedly potentially went wrong (due to not performing the microcode steps) the system has been fully reinstalled since that point.

There exists a thread in the 26.7 subforum for an issue with the FW6, but the proposed solution there did not help. I was running the Coreboot bios prior, but have swapped to the AMI one, without it resolving the issue.

I will update this thread as I encounter anything new. If anyone has any suggestions for things to try, please.
