Okay, got it.

I didn't catch where the CISS topic came from, but I'm just an advanced user with a vague, half-baked understanding. I couldn't see any parallels in the other thread.

Your tip to lock the kernel actually helped. I was able to update the system.
But I'm already annoyed with myself for not documenting the whole issue better. I'll document it better for the next update and start my own thread. Thanks for your patience.

Thx, newsense!

I think I understand the basics.

I didn't see a boot menu. I was locally on the machine and ended up at the command line with the "mountfs" prompt, or something like that.

Locking the kernel—that's clear, too.

Unfortunately, I don't know who Franco is. <- forget it. I see.

Same like thread starter, same issue.

26.7.3_8 killed my system twice -> reinstallation twice.

Update from 26.7.2_x to 26.7.3_8, system got panic. Reinstalled, with 26.7, it runs, update to _8 it's crashing.

Bare metal China Appliance, Intel, two M.2 SSDs as ZFS Mirror, was working for one or two years.

After each restore, I sent a crash report via the WEBGUI. My mail domain (which is my own, so it's unique) is the same as the one used here in the forum, in case you'd like to check it out.

I don't feel like doing a third restore. I'm going to wait for the next update and keep my fingers crossed.

Devs: Thanks for your work! <3
