I remember when I was studying for my Microsoft MCSE many years ago. At the time I was studying in particular DNS and after reading several chapters over and over I was sooooo confused. Then I read a one page Novell document and completely understood DNS. Novell rescued me on IPv4 also. Ignore all things Microsoft. Their days are numbered while they try and play the pretty girl's friend. "You will not be allowed to co-opt Linux and shall not pass!!"

Don't do things the hard way. Meaning, don't stray too far off the beaten path jacking around with making non standard things somehow work. There's wild beasts out in them woods and you'll beat yourself to death finding a way back out. I know from experience.

If it's something not in production use go wild! Learn through pain. It's the human way.

25.7 Series / memory leak?
October 13, 2025, 11:16:31 PM
Since a couple updates (or perhaps a few) my OPNsense server (proxmox vm) memory keeps going to 90+ percent. Previously it never got very high at all. This last patch it seemed ok for a couple days but I logged in today via web gui and it was over 90% again.

I only use Unbound DNS, Kea DHCP (for Cisco switch DHCP relay), QEMU guest agent, and Insight to see what is eating bandwidth. How can I track this down?
