I am testing OPNsense 25.1.6 on the R4S, and unfortunately, the performance I'm observing is quite poor (~230 Mbps download / ~210 Mbps upload).

EDITED: upgraded to 25.1.8 and installed "os-realtek-re" - unfortunately nothing improved.
Thank you for posting news about current state of NanopiR4.
I bought it because of power efficiency and was hoping for performance improvement after some time but it seems it's getting slower.
Maybe some HW acceleration plugin for ARM CPUs similar to those for Intel/AMD could help to improve the performance...

Correct. I'm very fond of small, power-efficient AARCH64 devices, and their computing power keeps improving. I just wish these models had better support from FreeBSD and OPNsense. Currently, I'm using OpenWrt on a NanoPi R6S, and the performance is stellar (comparable to an Intel N100). I'd really like to take advantage of all the additional capabilities that OPNsense offers, but unfortunately, OPNsense performance on these devices with Realtek Ethernet, while functional, it is far from usable at the present moment.
