It already worked, I just tested it incorrectly: disabling the interface in the GUI is not sufficient, although the web interface indicates a switch-over. Marking the gateway as down (or pulling the plug) did the job.

Hi fellow opnSense users,

Struggling a bit with the MultiWAN setup on my DEC4240 running opnsense-business-- 23.10.2: followed the guide on https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/multiwan.html with two gateways and followed all steps such as checking firewall rules, sticky connections, specific options, etc.

When I use the Gateway Group as gateway in my firewall LAN rule and the primary gateway go down, it looks like the traffic goes to '/dev/null' (is it really switching to the other gateway?). In Gateways-Groups the state of the gateways is reflected correctly and the secondary gateway is marked as active.

Either using a Gateway Group in my default LAN firewall rule or using the priority with both gateways as upstream and selecting 'default' as gateway yields the same negative result.

However, when I select either gateway in my LAN firewall rule specifically, it works!
