Hey there,

just updated from 25.7.4 to 26.1 and stumbled about the news to the "host discovery service" coming with 25.7.11.

I hoped that the captive portal would now get mac addresses of clients from the dhcp service. But it seems like its not the case because alle the connected clients in my captive portal still have no mac address on their sesseion.

In my scenario useres are connected to multiple remote networks which are reachable via a static route behind the internal interface. So the users are not directly connected to the sense, which means that captive portal cant't see the users mac address.
I've configured the sense as central dhcp servers for the remote networks, so the sense can link the mac addressses to their captive portal clients. But it seems like the dhcp service isn't sharing the mac addess with the captive portal. Even if my first understaning of the "neighbor discovery service" sounded like this to me.

Does someone know if its possible to get mac addresses for the captive portal from the kea dhcp leases?

kind regards

Hey Sense community,

currently I'm building a new captive portal for our guest network. Im testing the authentication of AD group memberships or vouchercodes on an iphone.

I noticed that I'll only get an the login page of the captive portal when Auto-Login is turned on within the wifi settings of the iphone. Even when a voucher is expired or the session gets killed from the admin ui I'm not getting the login page again before rejoining the wifi network.

Without enableing Auto-Login (which is default) I wont get the login page at all.

I've tried turning on "Always send accounting requests" but didn't noticed any differences.

Does anyone know whats to do about this?

Thanks! :)
