Hello, I installed opnsense on a mini PC (Fujitsu S920) with nic that i bought on amazon, here is the nic:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09D3JL14S?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
It is connected to the WAN port through ONT terminal (1gbps) that my internet provider gave me.
I followed a installation guide and configured my ppoe internet provider.
Everything seems to be working fine but...
From my internet provider device I was getting 1gbps down and about 300 up. And on my new machine running opnsense max i got was 350mbps down.
What's the problem?
Internet provider router is connected the same way that opensense is connected - by ONT terminal.
OPNsense system information:
On internet provider router:
On freshly installed opnsense:
Here is (google translated) instruction that I followed to connect to my ppoe internet provider (Orange) .
Step by step.
You must have a separate ONT Terminal + router - if you did not ask for it during the first installation, you must report this need now and before removing router, the Orange technician must install the ONT terminal for you.
In OPNSense, go to Interfaces - Other Types - VLAN and create VLAN35
4.1. VLAN tag: 35
4.2. VLAN priority: 0 (default)
4.3. Description: Orange FTTP
5. Go to Interface - WAN
5.1. IPv4 Configuration Type: PPPoE
5.2. IPv6 Configuration Type: None
5.3. MTU 1540 - as in FB6
5.4. We enter the Username and Password from the SMS
6. click "Save"
7. While in the same window, go down Advanced and MLPPP Click here (click'amy) for additional PPPoE configuration options. Save first if you made changes. We go to additional settings.
7.1. We set the Link interface(s) to our VLAN
7.2. We check Link Type PPPoE
9. click "Save"
