I'm the one who was asking on github. I had basically the same idea, but till now lacked the time to have a deeper look into it. I got some basic knowledge with opnsense plugin dev, see:

Since oisd.nl announced that they will stop maintaining the domain list, I was wondering if it would be possible to use the unbound rules: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sjhgvr/oisd/main/unbound_big.txt
