In my next home lab buildout I'm planning on having a couple of Intel NUCs with thunderbolt 3 (TB3), one for opnsense and one running TrueNAS. I could connnect my TrueNAS to my core switch with a TB3 10gbe nic, but I was wondering if it would be more efficient to use TB3 networking to connect my TrueNAS box directly to my opnsense NUC and have that form a part of a lan bridge. Pros are reduced heat, less dongles, etc.
