Hardware and Performance / Degraded TX performance when WAN and LAN on X550-DA2 card
« on: February 26, 2022, 11:02:22 pm »
Hello,
I have Opnsense running on a 4690k with a Intel X550-DA2 card. The SFP adapters I am using support 1G/2.5G/5G/10G.
My WAN is connected to the X550 card always and operates just fine.
When my LAN is assigned to the motherboard 1G onboard NIC, iperf3 tests at the full ~950 MBits/sec both in RX and TX.
When my LAN is assigned to the second port on my X550 card, I seem to be throttled down to ~460-500 MBits/sec on the TX while the RX remains that the full ~950 MBits/sec expected. Since its the TX that's throttled, it affects my DL speeds.
I thought the issue was related to the iflib backport referenced here: https://github.com/opnsense/src/issues/119, but 22.1 has not fixed the issue.
Any idea as to whats going on? I've tested the SFPs and they are fine, and I've tested both ports on the X550 card and they are fine too.
Thanks
raesche
