I tried restarting via ssh and it told me the PID. Turns out it was the Adguardhome plugin for whatever reason. I killed the process and the firewall rebooted with 25.7 after some time. :)

i started the upgrade to 25.7 just now and checking in after some time my machine hangs at this screen:


I really dont know what to do. I do have an internet connection, some services are stopped and i am able to "use" my firewall but i cannot force a restart via GUI.

The GUI still shows:
Versions
OPNsense 25.1.12-amd64
FreeBSD 14.2-RELEASE-p4
OpenSSL 3.0.17

Is there anything i can do now?
I did make a snapshot before the upgrade. Would i be able to safely "roll back"?

I've added keepalive 25 on both sides as a temporary fix.

Sadly, v23.1.3 did not fix the issue for me. I still lose the connection after some unknown period of time :/

The same thing happens to me, too. I cant seem to find the cause of it, tho.

The wireguard app on my mobile phone shows that i am connected but i am not able to do anything like f.e. visit a website or receive messages from any kind of messenger. When i disconnect the vpn everything works again. Sometimes i am not able to directly connect to the wireguard server after i disconnected (i am not receiving any packages). I then have to wait for some time until it works again.

i am trying to finish my DNS/DHCPv6 server setup but it seems to be not as easy as i thought.

So i am getting a /56 IPv6 prefix from my ISP via DHCPv6. I use "Track Interface" to get the prefix to my LAN subnet and my devices do get a IPv6 connection. My problem is, as soon as i have to restart my hardware and get a new prefix the whole setup doesnt work anymore because the prefix changed.

I tried usind ULAs created as Virtual IPs but that didnt seem to work as expected.

Is there a way around using a global address (2003:.....) as my DNS server?

I am using 22.1.9_1. And here are some screenshots of my config:

Can somebody please point me in the right direction? It would be much appreciated!

I use SPdyn, DDNS and goip, all three not supported in a few days by OPNsense. What to do about that?

Just use the "Custom" service for goip. I use it as well and it works without a problem. See attached screenshot.

I did not revert to an older release yet as i am waiting for the renewal to happen again. It worked fine for weeks/months before, tho. If nothing helps i am going to revert and see if it occurs again.
Do you have anything in mind causing this? I'll keep an eye out if you have got a suspicion.

Hey guys,

so i am getting random IP renewal every few days since my update to 22.1.8_1. Everything worked like a charm with 22.1.7_1 and i can't seem to find the reason why this is happening.
I did not change my config or anything at all. The last few days i tried different "solutions" but since the renewal happens randomly i cannot be sure if anything helped at all.

I had problems setting up IPv6, too. The clients did get a IPv6 address but couldnt contact anything at all. RA just didnt want to work, too, so i deactivated everything and started configuring from scratch.

For me the problem was the option "Use the DNS settings of the DHCPv6 server" in RA. It worked like a charm in <v22.1 but it seems that configuring only the DNS-server suffix (i get a dynamic prefix from my ISP) in DHCPv6 wont work anymore. As soon as i changed it to the complete IPv6 address it started working again.
