Using the WebGUI to update from 21.1.8 to 21.1.9, I received this message/web popup:

/usr/local/opnsense/mvc/app/config/services_api.php:67: Class 'Phalcon\Session\Manager' not found

I closed the warnings message and the system seems fine. Should I be concerned? Should I investigate?

Thanks!

20.7 Legacy Series / Re: how to config opnsense...
January 22, 2021, 08:58:48 PM
Your question very general, suggest reviewing the docs.... minder reader cap on....

Like you I'm new to this game....I was able to get my box running but only after a few days of research and about a 7 resets. (trial and error). I'm not a developer, network engineer nor a CLI guru. In retro spec, I should have gone a different route but I can't return my new hardware so I live with it.

Assuming you got it installed.....

The setup wizard will get you online. It appears on first boot. The WAN port is NAT out of the box (outbound traffic is allowed (from LAN) but not the other way around)

This is not uncommon but most ISP/Cable Co. don't like the change of MAC address. Had to contact Cable Co to reset modem.

Only two physical interfaces (WAN & LAN) are live even if there is more NIC or WiFi available in box.  The docs say to use a switch for more ports. For now, I put my old gateway/router/access point into Bridge mode and plugged it into the LAN of OPNsense.

Good Luck

20.7 Legacy Series / Realtek RTL8821AE PCI-E WiFi Card
January 22, 2021, 08:25:49 PM
I purchased AzureWave AW-CB161H PCI-E WiFi Card (802.11a/b/g/n/ac & BT 4.0) for my box.

FreeBSD 12.1 list the RTL8821A supported with Kernel driver  RTWN(4).

Once its physical installed, do I need to install drivers or tweak BIOS? Or this this just plug & play (pray)?

Lastly is there any documentation on configuring OPNsense for the new wifi card?

Kind Regards
