Thanks to everyone that replied, this is kind of what I suspected was that the NIC's would identify differently and I would have to manually edit the .xml file, but I was hoping there was an easier way.  I will give it a go and report back when I get a chance to try it.

I am wondering if I move to new hardware, can I backup my current opnsense system and restore it on the new hardware, or will that not work because the hardware it different?

I am just wondering if anyone has used this device or has an opinion on this device, as to weather it is a good device for Opnsense?

20.7 Legacy Series / Re: Question about Upgrading to 20.7
September 12, 2020, 11:51:49 PM
Thanks for the feedback, I was taking into account that primary only people with problems post.  However it is a bit scary when you see a 5 page thread of people who's WAN are half the speed after upgrade.  Unfortunately I live in an area where speed are not that great to start with so I really can't afford to lose half my speed.  :)

But again thanks to everyone who responded, I really appreciate it.

20.7 Legacy Series / Question about Upgrading to 20.7
September 11, 2020, 01:54:46 PM
I have been watching this forum since 20.7 came out, I want to upgrade but all I am seeing is problems.  Is anyone having success with 20.7 (aka problem free after upgrade)?  The post that has me most concerned is this one about slow WAN after upgrade...

https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=18450.60

Is there some common thread with the people having this issue or is it totally random?

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in Advance, RouterGuy2019

He meant this part: "Due to the severity of the UEFI boot panic 19.1.4 will be the new initial release for all upgrades from 18.7 within a day or two depending on additional testing and confirmation."

Not sure if it's so far yet. Haven't read it somewhere.

You can't go straight to 19.1.4 since OPNsense only supplies the 19.1 image. You need to upgrade this to 19.4 by the usual means.

Bart...

That is what I meant, and if anyone knows if that has been implicated I would love to know.

Thanks for the responses, I did forget to ask one thing though...
Right after 19.1.4 came out the notes said wait a few days and then this will be the upgrade path from 18.7.  So I am wondering is that the case now, will I go straight from 18.7 to 19.1.4?

Thanks, RouterGuy2019

I have held off on doing this upgrade because  I have seen so many people having problems with it.  I am still on 18.7 and I am wondering is it safe to upgrade now?  My big concern was this...

WAN Link Cycling Up and Down
https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=11879.0

and also the issue with it kernel panic after reboot of upgrade.  This is my main router and if something goes wrong it will take me quite a while to get back online so I REALLY want to avoid problems if I can.

Thanks for all your help and all your hard work on this great software,
