18.7 Legacy Series / OPNsense randomly stops routing traffic

Hello,
I have OPNsense 18.7 installed as a qemu-kvm virtual machine and use it to route internet traffic to the private network that the other VMs are in. It works great when it works.
My problem is that it just stops routing traffic and the management interface doesn't load anymore every couple of days to a few weeks. The only way I've found to get it working again when it's in this state is to reboot it from the console.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Where should I even begin to search for the root cause?
