Thanks, this seems clearer. Strange part is that I seem to be able to get a new public IP easily in pfSense but not here.

If I really need to change public IP, will disabling the WAN interface (mentioned in linked thread) + waiting for a few mins + renabling it still work?

Also, what's the exact use of the Refresh button?

Just to be very clear, as of 26.7, is the reload button also the release button (i.e. I should be seeing only one such button) + that button is supposed to help change/public IP?

Am asking cos I been clicking on that a few times and nothing seems to have changed

Hi, I am trying to release/renew lease of public IP, but I could only find the Reload button in the Interface screen. I saw threads like https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=48950.0 and https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=22275.0 mentioning a Release button but I am still unable to find it

Previously when I was in pfSense, this can be done easily with a checkbox telling it to release the IP address, but the Reload button in OPNsense didn't seem to do anything

Am I missing something or did I misconfigure the interface somehow? I followed the previous settings I used in pfSense whenever possible

Hi, I somehow found a Q6600 with working mobo (Asus P5KR) and 8 GB of RAM for it in my house, even along with a spare PSU, spare dual Intel NIC card and casing!

I am wondering if this is a good candidate for a OPNsense rig; am thinking of deploying it in a place that will have 500 up/down connection at most and would only need to block some ports at most (i.e. suricata and snort not required). Wireless connectivity and switching are being handled by a separate wireless access point.
