18.7 Legacy Series / LAN Client VPNs don't work through OPNsense

Hi everyone,
I have my LAN set-up so all local clients route their internet traffic through it, which works fine. However, if one of those clients establishes a VPN connection to a server outside the network, they then can't rout any traffic to either the server (on the local VPN network) or the wider internet via the VPN server. This happens with both OpenVPN and Wireguard. THe client machine is running Linux Mint.
If I configure the client to bypass the OPNsense machine and access the internet through a separate cisco router, the VPN works as expected.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
