Title: Interfaces show different IP in Web GUI and in console
Post by: labsy on May 11, 2017, 10:45:33 pm
Hi,
I have latest version installed on ESXi 6.5 as virtual machine, seems like working fine...but I am confused with interfaces. First I setup interfaces for test lab, then I changed them to production settings, different IP and DHCP on LAN off.
But it is all confused now - even AFTER reboots and shut down:
- both interfaces show OLD IP adresses if I look through Web GUI
- and both show NEW IP addresses if I look via console (those are correct IPs)
- also DHCP was OFF in web gui, but it was actually not off

For example:
WAN is actually on DHCP leased IP 192.168.211.201 and is showing correct IP in console. I can PING public address space from console.
But from Web GUI I see WAN IP as static, set to 10.10.100.100, which was my old setup from few days ago. I cannot ping the same public address via Web GUI???!!!

Same confusion for LAN interface.

Where is the catch?

*** EDIT ***
Seems like reboot changed the interfaces order, so it got all confused randomly.
Please, disregard this post, as confusion was made by misconfiguration obviously, partly being done via console and partly via web gui.

Hi labsy,

Sometimes it also happens that one can confuse one VM for another, e.g. a local test setup and the newly deployed production firewall, so one may have a mismatch there. Just talking from experience. :)

Cheers,
