Title: Can't change from DHCP to static IP
Post by: GhostyDog on April 21, 2017, 05:16:27 pm
Hi all,

I'm running OPNsense 17.1.4-i386 on my laptop as a test of the capabilities of the box, before a wider trial in the company I work for.

I have a full fat install running in a guest VM in VirtualBox with two virtual network interfaces (LAN and WAN)

Both interfaces are configured as DHCP in the GUI and are picking up IPs from my network DHCP, I can ping Google through the wan port on the OPNsense box, and I can access the GUI from my laptop at the LAN IP of the box.

I now want to set static IPv4 addresses for LAN and WAN and when I try to do this through the GUI I configure the interface for static and click save it looks like it's doing something but never actually completes.

I've tried restarting the guest and this hasn't helped.

The console of the guest also never gets to the login so I can't change them there either, it just displays.

Starting CRON...done.

Followed by the hostname, version info and the IPs allocated to the interfaces via DHCP.

I really want to get this setup in a manner that I can set the LAN interface as my gateway to see how it handles a bit of real traffic so would appreciate any help top get me that far.

Cheers

GD
