Dann geht nichts mehr. Ich kann nur restarten und mit Option 5 den alten Kernel zum Start bewegen.
Ich kann die Fehlermeldung hier im Forum nicht in Bezug zu 19.1 finden. Bin ich alleine mit dem Problem?
Habe Board mit J1900.

Not speaking German, but here are two things to consider:
1. Check for a BIOS update
2. Check if the mittigation in this post fixes it for you as well - note that you'll have to apply it manually on each boot for 19.1 until you get to the GUI and can make it permanent.

no, it doesn't work. Actual BIOS 1.90 for ASRock Q1900M is installed and the described instructions does not lead to any changes.
Is there a bios option necessary to set for Spectre/Meltdown problem?
Is my motherboard so unsuitable or old fashioned?
pfSense expects a motherboard with aes-ni and now opnSense makes also trouble...

Hi Hunter,
There are no aes-ni requirements and it's highly doubtful your hardware is unsupported.
While there could be BIOS settings that could be tinkered with that's entirely up to you. Screenshots can be attached if needed.
Please open an issue on Github referrencing this thread so the dev team knows and can get in touch with you directly. (Kinda surprising disabling those mitigations didn't change a thing...assuming everything was done correctly)

Newsense, I have no kernel panic described in the link https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=11419.0 (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=11419.0).
I tried again the settings: set vm.pmap.pti="0"
set hw.ibrs_disable="1"
boot but without success.
I've attached a screenshot of my hanging system. With or without the code above.

Evtl. hast Du das gleiche Problem.
Bei meiner Securepoint RC200G3 (AAEON FWS2251) scheint es auch so zu sein. Die OPNsense (GUI) läuft problemlos, aber es wird ab einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt nichts mehr auf dem Monitor ausgegeben.
Mangels seriellem Port kann ich aber nicht prüfen, ob die Ausgabe auf die Console umgeleitet wird! ???

Hi Dirk, danke dafür. Wenn es nur ein Darstellungsproblem wäre, sollte OPnsense ja korrekt hochfahren und über das Webinterface erreichbar sein, bzw seiner normalen Aufgabe nachkommen. Das Netz bleibt aber komplett tot. Von daher gehe ich davon aus, dass der Bootvorgang an der Stelle unterbricht. Mangels eines seriellen Nullmodemkabels kann ich es aber derzeit nicht überprüfen.

Kann mir vielleicht jemand sagen, wie ich mir die BIOS version meiner Kiste anzeigen lassen kann ?
Unter Linux kann ich das mit dmidecode, dass gibt es hier aber leider nicht...

Hallo,
ich kann bestätigen, dass OpnSense nach einem Update auf Version 19.1 auf einem J1900 Board nicht mehr hoch kommt.
Wie im Screenshot oben bereits zu sehen, bleibt das System nach

stehen. NumLock funktioniert nicht mehr, sieht also nicht danach aus, als würde das OS noch irgendetwas tun. Auch nach längerer Zeit (30 Minuten) reagiert das System nicht auf den Netzwerkinterfaces.
Neu Booten und mit der Option 5 auf den alten Kernel zurückwechseln bringt das alte System wieder zum laufen.
Es handelt sich also um einen reproduzierbaren Fehler.

Hallo Qbic, hast Du schon eine Neuinstallation mit 19.1 an Stelle des Updates probiert? Bin noch nicht @home und kann das von daher nicht testen.

nein, das konnte ich leider noch nicht testen. Ich muss für eine Installation erst ein System aufbauen, da ich das Netzwerk nicht nochmal unnötig lahmlegen möchte/darf/kann.

bist Du weiter gekommen? Habe gerade nochmal ein Update auf die aktuelle 19.1.4 probiert, aber beim Bootvorgang hängt mein OpnSense wieder an der gleichen Stelle.
