OpenVPN Rest API Availability

Is there any documentation for using the REST API with OpenVPN? I want to be able to automate a few things as well as monitor the VPN connection. I have looked here:
https://docs.opnsense.org/development/api.html
but found nothing dealing with OpenVPN.

Only the Client Export is API enabled, rest is still legacy code
