DNS Issues
« on: January 01, 2019, 02:48:27 pm »
If my internet connection drops and then reconnects I seem to lose access to my opnsense gui, so can't restart dns or anything.

this is either via wifi or wired pc using a static ip

the only way to resolve the issue is to reboot the opnsense box, surely shouldn't need to do this when I loose connection.

I'm using unbound dns and upnp as have multiple xbox's setup and internet provider is sky

Would anyone be able to offer any advice, thanks

Hello,

I have a few questions, out of curiosity, how many nic interfaces do you have? And does having the WebGUI listen on the Lan interface help? And when you lose connectivity, how long is the downtime?

Regards

sorry for the late response

i have just the wan and lan interfaces, with the webgui listening on the lan interface only

When I lose connectivity it is permanent until i reboot the unit itself, which if not careful could then start causing problems with the hdd

my modem is still connected and sync not dropped, as can still access this, but no access to the opnsense box

this is my setup
modem (hg612) -> opnsense -> samknows whitebox -> switch -> devices
