Possible bug with traffic graph
«

Hi, when I changed the display dropdown to hostname, it does not seem to "work properly".
The lan IPs are assigned by DHCP, some others are static.
I am using DNS forwarder, disabled unbound.
I have ticked register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder.
I have also ticked register DHCP static mappings in DNS forwarder.
I expect the table to display the hostname since I have selected register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder.
My expectation is based on my current experience with pfsense.
But only static hosts have its hostname displayed in the table.

Hi there,
It's not a traditional bug that could be fixed by changing a line in the code. Static leases will be show, dynamic leases are not resolved, because they are missing a feature link between them...

PS: Do you maybe have "Do not use the DNS Forwarder/Resolver as a DNS server for the firewall" activated under System: Settings: General?

Yes, the checkbox is ticked.
I ticked it because I have pihole set as dns server.
I do not want to cache dns in the localhost.

It works with this setting as far as I could see.
It's a bit of a tricky situation, you want the firewall to resolve these names but then really not want the firewall to resolve those other names.
I think in the past the feature was not so rigorous, but it was changed because it kept having side effects that complicate setups, support and keep users from being as happy as they can be.
Cheers,
Franco
