[SOLVED] Upgrade from 16.7
« on: January 29, 2017, 04:30:35 pm »
Hi All

I did a bit of reading and am not clear on the upgrade requirements from 16.7, will the 17.1 release be provided as the standard updates via the  webui or do I need to do a fresh install or some other upgrade path?

Regards

GX

Hi GX,

Here's the relevant passage of the 17.1 release notes draft:

Quote
We would like to encourage everyone to supervise this major upgrade physically. As such, it cannot be performed from the GUI. Instead, go to the root console menu, choose option 12 and type "17.1" at the prompt. Alternatively, SSH can be used to perform the upgrade.

The process will download a full set of updates and reboot multiple. All operating system files and packages will be reinstalled as a consequence. Another method is to import and reinstall using a new installation image, which can also retain your settings (selecting "Import Configuration"), then reformat the disk and apply a clean system (selecting "Guided Installation").

17.1 isn't out yet so we are still finishing up these notes. :)

Cheers,
Franco
