cant load/find kernel
« on: March 16, 2020, 06:26:48 pm »
Hello,
I have a problem when trying to install opnsense on a Qotom q355g4. I start installing from usb stick but it stuck on 10% so i had to cancel and reboot. Now cant even begin installation, at boot menu error shows telling cant find nor load kernel. I can execute some command on that weird shell.

I cant even get into bios, i tried pressing DEL or F-keys but I ended on opnsense boot menu.

How bad is this? Any clue how to solve it?

Thank you!

If you even can't reach your BIOS the board maybe has some serious problem.

From what I read I think you have a hardware issue or corrupted BIOS flash.

That's what I fear..

Sometimes, pressing all F-keys at the same time I'm able to get into bios page but when I do, keyboard stops working and I cant do anything. Weird af.

I guess I'll have to check if Aliexpress warranty covers this since I just bought it...

EDIT: After removing SSD I'm able to get into BIOS but keyboard doesnt work. I tried on 4 USB port and even though keyboard switches on I cant do anything in BIOS. Any thoughts?

Thanks

UPDATE: I manage to revert the situation. I post what I did so anyone has the same problem may use it:

1: remove SSD and reset BIOS (maybe not necessary).

2: Change boot time from 1 second to more reasonable value.

3: Relocate SSD.

4: Probably the first thing you should try: Test with other fking keyboards!! In my case, changing keyboard made me able to access bios pressing DEL.

Now I'm trying to install OPNsense but installation is stuck on 10% again... Maybe my USB is not correctly flashed? I did it with Etcher on Windows.
