Hi I am new to OPNsense. I have setup a traffic shaper to help with bufferbloat look at attached pictures for what i setup. the problem is when i try to download with ftp the download is only about 20mbps when i have a +300mbps why is traffic shaper limiting the download so much?

i have a +300mbps download with 20mbps upload

If you need any more details about my configuration let me know.

i have coped RickNY configuration on this post  https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3758.0
but still get only 20mbps download with ftp but dslreports shows 240 mbps and A+ BufferBloat.

On the WAN Interface the source wont ne a private IP address.

Please check If without TS FTP is faster

are you saying to change under rules tab #21 source? what do i change it to? according to RickNY configuration on this port https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3758.0
he used
- Interface: WAN
- Proto: ip
- Source: 192.168.1.0/24   (My LAN)
- Src Port: any
- Destination: any
- Dst-port: any
- Direction: any
- Target: UpQueue
- Description: UpRule

also what is TS "Please check If without TS FTP is faster"

Disable Traffic Shaper and test if FTP is faster.
Possibly the FTP server is limited globally?

I have no idea of the link but why would a private IP leave the WAN interface? There would be your public IP but perhaps I'm wrong ..

with traffic shaper disable get my full internet speed to FTP server ~300mbps.
i don't think the private IP is leaving the wan it is just saying all traffic leaving the wan can only go this fast. Like when you upload something.
so with traffic shaper on download ftp is only about 20mbps. Why?

Can you post the full rule with the advanced checked? I'm guessing you have a direction setup incorrectly.

So you need to make a rule for in and a rule for out.

Change the direction from "any" to 'in' and one for 'out' so you can separate them.

so i changed rule target DownQueue direction to "in" and UpQueue to "out". i get the same speed with ftp

What's the CPU your OPNSense box? You can try something like:

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

rather than FTP as well as that provides usually better consistent results.

CPU: i3-2100 RAM 8gb

speed tests are good it is just ftp download.
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/26495096

Ok, so when Traffic Shaper is enabled speed test is good and ftp slow.
When Traffic Shaper is disabled speed test is good, ftp is good?
