Alas, I must say that I am less than impressed by the new layout. I can hardly read it, partly because of the low contrast, partly because of the small font size of 83%. Instead of readable text, many layout elements take up much space, thus nearly half of the page is full before content starts even on my 38" monitor. Thus, scaling up to 120% is no option.

As a temporary fix, I use this with Stylus (a Firefox plugin):

#siteslogan {
    display: none;
    visibility: hidden;
}

.postblock {
    background: #f8f8f8
}

#messageindex, .postblock {
  background: #f8f8f8;
}

.main_container {
  background: #f8f8f8;
}

body {
    font: 90%/150% "Segoe UI","Helvetica Neue","Nimbus Sans L",Arial,"Liberation Sans",sans-serif;
}

#lkHeader_sub {
  background: #fff;
  display: flex;
  flex-direction: row;
  min-height: 30px;
}

#top_section #lkHeader_sub .inner_wrap {
  position: relative;
  padding-bottom: 5px;
  margin-bottom: 5px;
}

.button, .quickbuttons > li > a, .inline_mod_check {
  padding: 4px 5px;
  box-sizing: border-box;
  border-radius: 10px;
}

Sad to say that, but this is the first website I had to resort to something like this just to be able to use it decently.
Intel N100, 4 x I226-V, 16 GByte, 256 GByte NVME, ZTE F6005

1100 down / 440 up, Bufferbloat A+

The font is too small, yes I know I can zoom in, but it used to be easier to read than this one.
I miss the orange too, it was like a greeting page, you're on Opnsense now :-)

Where are the stylesheets? There should definitely been on the original design to include and support external stylesheets as well.

I was a little bit shocked first. Why would anyone in 2024 create a new forum and not use discourse for it?
But the design looks pretty nice and it looks like all the needed features are there.

But the wasted space is really annoying. Take a look at this:
You cannot view this attachment.
This is my whole screen taken up by mostly three lines of text :)

Also, 256KB limit for file attachments seams a little bit silly.
And heic pictures are allowed to upload, stuck forever at 50% during the upload and then are unsupported..

I never like design-changes, but it looks good so far.
Yeah, the banner is waaaays too big... the most annoying to me is, espacially in "unread posts", that 'Started by [USERNAME] in [FORUMNAME] has the same size as topic-header what makes it really confusing...
The second line should be in a different color and/or smaller size... or topic header in bold (but not the OP in bold).

You cannot view this attachment.

Runde Avatare sind doof. Wenn man nicht eingeloggt ist gibt's keinen "Reply" button, mit dem man schnell einloggt und direkt antworten kann? Dämliche ajax.googleapis.com sind bei mir standardmäßig geblockt... :-p

Agree on all points, I was in the middle of using Stylus as well for the first time to fix the stylesheet issues.  Unfortunately there are some issues that require the template to be fixed, such as why unread/updated topics is out there with it's own bar and not part of another navigation bar.  But the excessive padding & margins and massive logos/headers are the biggest problem, on my laptop I had to scroll down a full page just to see the first post.

You mean "Last Post", I assume? I just noticed that that very handy link is now missing too. I was very handy for catching up on running discussions :(

Yeah, plus the gigantic banner image on the index pages... Maybe everyone else is running 4k monitors nowadays, but I have to scroll to even see the first post in a forum on my antique "1080p" screen, due to all the wasted space at the top of the page....

a day later as i am sipping coffee and doing my daily reads.   i would have to agree, the document in red squares and the hand on the right side of the image, works good on the home page.   but doesn't need to be on every page so i have to scroll down.  i am working directly from a laptop i don't have external screens even..

i would add a picture of the image,   but i can't upload it directly to the site.   i don't have an image hosting website and don't want to create a free account for that

Why do people always struggle to add images? That was the case with the old forum layout, too. I just don't get it - the instructions are clearly written on the "Post reply" form - see attached image ;)

Kind regards,
Patrick

Because they are using Quick reply at the bottom? :D

Ah ... now I notice. I rarely scroll down that far but hit the "reply" button instead. Or even more frequently "quote".

And now with the new layout "quote" uses "quick reply" so no attachment option, either. That wasn't the case with the old layout. Definitely a regression.

@franco Please look into offering the "attachments" option on all posting forms.

A formatting issue in this post: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=44435.msg222631#msg222631

The text runs off the the edge.  It's more pronounced when using a different font (such as @meyergru's custom styling in my screenshot), but the issue is there in the default styling too.

Not sure:

Recent change to my lab, trying to reduce power/heat/noise with a lower power NAS. More details here: https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/mini-truenas-server-build.46107/

That said, dragging the image didn't work so well, but might have been me. Clicking the "Click or Drag files here" towards the bottom of the reply window works.
