No option to install
« on: February 01, 2017, 10:03:47 pm »
Hi,

I am wondering why when booting 17.1 from stick will not let me install to hdd. As described on "getting started" standard behavior should be "install" I only have the option to start in multi user, single user etc. When selecting "1" or wait till timeout then it starts a live system of 17.1. What did I miss?

During booting you should have a look on the console.
There is a little time delay and there you have to press a key. Then the real diskinstaller starts.
I had just the same problem,  but now I am installing on disk

Since you need keyboard input in the installer, the following works:

Login as "installer" with password "opnsense".

We now boot into a live system if no key was pressed to enable users to install via SSH using the same "installer" account. This was done to enable keyboard-free installs...

Cheers,
