DEC850 - boot hangs, USB new install, no serial console screen

After some boot hangups I decided to do a new install with a USB via serial connect.  While in BIOS I was looking for the legacy options so that the the USB was recognized first with the legacy boot.  My BIOS screen no longer comes up after reboots, no text at all on the serial console.

What are my options for this machine to factory reset the BIOS?  If I remove the CMOS battery and reset it will that accomplish the factory reset and bring the BIOS config back?

I was trying to find my notes. I use sudo screen/dev/ttyUSB0 115200 When it just sits there with a blank screen cycle the power.
It's been while but I'll try to help. I also have a DEC850

OPNsense devices from the OPNsense shop use <ESC> to enter the bios and boot selection options.

I have used the serial login to re-install on these devices many times.  This time, it looks like I disabled an important aspect in the BIOS.

Full black screen, no options for ESC.  I bricked it.  I'm avoiding using the jumper technique to factory reset BIOS.  I read something about removing the CMOS battery to force the BIOS to reset.

Thanks for the response, anything on the screen at this point is better than nothing :)

I'll read some google searches and get back to you,

Hi Steve,

If I'm not mistaken, the disable serial console option is not available in the menu.
When you are able to reach the bios, make sure to check these settings https://docs.opnsense.org/hardware/serial_connectivity.html#legacy-uart-vs-uefi-serial , older OPNsense versions handled eif differently.
